On April 2, 2025, the Kick-off Conference of the project “Strengthening the Vocational Education and Training (VET) System in Bosnia and Herzegovina” was held. The project is funded by the Government of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The implementation of this important project is carried out by GOPA Worldwide Consultants with an office in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This project, which is of significant importance for the future of the education system and the labor market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, began with a successful conference that set the foundations for further work. During the conference, key objectives and activities were presented that will shape the new framework for technical and vocational education and training in the country. The main focus of the project is to improve the capacity of educational institutions, strengthen student skills, and ensure that the education system is fully aligned with the needs of the modern labor market.
The conference was attended by key representatives from educational authorities, members of the business community, and experts from various sectors. The event provided an opportunity for all participants to familiarize themselves with the project and its objectives, which will contribute to the development of the education system and the creation of a qualified workforce that meets market demands.
Adnan Husić, Assistant Minister for Education at the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighted in his opening speech that this project will have a profound and long-term impact on both the education system and the development of the labor market in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“A project like this represents a significant step forward in ensuring the competitiveness of our citizens in the labor market, by aligning the education system with market needs and enabling young people to acquire the skills they need for professional success,” said Husić.
Nils Krauer, Deputy Director for Cooperation at the Swiss Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasized the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and the private sector.
“Collaboration between educational institutions and the private sector is key to creating new opportunities that will enable young people to successfully enter the labor market with the skills they need. This project opens the door to continuous skills development and makes the workforce more competitive on a global level,” said Krauer.
The conference was an excellent opportunity for exchanging ideas and laying the foundation for further work on improving the vocational education and training system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
