On his way of aligning vocational education with the european standards, Bosnia and Herzegovina builds the capacity of schools and institutions through the EQAVET access.

Today, we are opening an important new chapter in the implementation of the project “Strengthening the System of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Bosnia and Herzegovina.” In cooperation with the competent ministries of education, a two-day kick-off workshop is being held with the aim of strengthening the capacities of school staff for quality assurance in technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
The workshop brings together representatives of 22 secondary technical and vocational schools and 11 ministries of education, including school principals, teaching staff, representatives of ministries of education, and pedagogical institutes. The overarching objective of these activities is to improve institutional practices in line with the European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training framework (EQAVET).
The workshop focuses on the practical application of EQAVET principles, with particular emphasis on self-assessment processes and the systematic collection and analysis of data to support evidence-based decision-making.
Through interactive sessions, participants have the opportunity to exchange experiences, assess existing practices, and jointly work on improving quality in vocational education. These activities directly contribute to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning processes, improving curricula, and increasing the flexibility and responsiveness of the overall education system.
This workshop represents a significant step toward strengthening the quality assurance system in vocational education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the ultimate goal of creating a more relevant, efficient, and sustainable education system that serves both students and society as a whole.
Following the introductory workshops for school management, project activities will continue over the next four years through direct work with school teams from the 22 participating schools. These activities will focus on strengthening the capacities of school management and teaching staff in quality assurance through the use of EQAVET-based self-assessment questionnaires, as well as through the systematic collection and analysis of data to support evidence-based decision-making.
Project support for these activities is provided by the Center for Educational Initiatives Step by Step and the Center for Development Evaluation and Social Research (CREDI).
This activity is implemented within the project “Strengthening the System of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” implemented by GOPA Worldwide Consultants with an office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and funded by the Government of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
