As part of the project “Strengthening the Technical and Vocational Education and Training System in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” an important meeting of the working group was held today, April 9, 2025, in Travnik, aimed at initiating the drafting of the Law on Secondary Vocational Education in the Central Bosnia Canton (SBK/KSB). The meeting brought together the GOPA expert team, led by Team Leader Efka Heder, and the expert team of the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth, Culture and Sports of SBK/KSB, with the goal of laying the foundation for the development of a legislative framework that will improve the current education system.

The process will focus on aligning educational programs with labor market needs, thereby enabling more effective and higher-quality preparation of students for employment. During the meeting, members of the working group reviewed key guidelines and principles that will allow for better integration between the education sector and the labor market, ultimately increasing the competitiveness of the workforce both locally and globally.

The new law is expected to ensure the stability and sustainability of the dual education system, which is based on cooperation between educational institutions and companies. This meeting marks just the first step in the process, with more intensive work anticipated in the coming phases to draft and align legislative proposals.

The expert teams expressed optimism that the new law will contribute to the modernization of the education system, enhance the quality of vocational education, and better adapt school programs to the needs of the labor market.
