On the second day of the workshop, the focus was placed on the role of Advisory Councils in ensuring the quality of secondary vocational education, with particular emphasis on cooperation between educational institutions and the business community. The topic was presented by Muharem Saračević, a project associate, who familiarized participants with the competencies and importance of Advisory Councils in strengthening the education system.
Through a presentation and discussion, Mr. Saračević introduced the functions of Advisory Councils and the role of the business community in their work, as well as their contribution to improving the relevance of vocational education through the revision and development of educational programmes in line with labour market needs, enrolment policies, continuous professional development of vocational subject teachers in companies, and work-based learning. Participants had the opportunity to learn about concrete examples of good practice in the work of Advisory Councils, presented by secondary school principals, and to exchange experiences and challenges they face in their work through discussion.
In the continuation of the day, participants engaged in activities and discussed next steps in establishing and forming Advisory Councils, considering concrete actions that schools need to take to ensure their functionality and sustainability.
In the second part of the programme, GOPA’s quality assurance mentors, Ivona Čelebičić and Nedžada Faginović, led an interactive session dedicated to data collection for self-evaluation. Through interactive work, participants had the opportunity to become familiar with methods and tools that will help them systematically monitor and improve the quality of education in their schools.
This activity is carried out within the project “Strengthening the Technical and Vocational Education and Training System in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, financed by the Government of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and implemented by GOPA Worldwide Consultants through its office in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
